black + blue

January 25, 2015

Evelyn came over today because we decided we wanted to have a photoshoot today!  She's like my butt buddy when it comes to doing photoshoots and exploring new places with good backdrops for our photos.  Today was a 'nice' day compared to what the weather's been recently so we got lucky.  According to the news there's supposed to be a huge blizzard the next two days so maybe school will be cancelled! That'd be lovely.
I named this post black + blue because 1. I'm wearing black and blue and 2. I accidentally sat on my laptop in an awkward position so I might have gotten a bruise on my booty (sorry if that's tmi heh.) This blazer has got to be my favorite blazer because of the vibrant, royal blue color.  I got it a few years ago and I still wear it often, which doesn't happen often with my clothes because I get easily bored of clothes that I've had for a while.  I love the bold accents in this outfit because it looks full of effort when in reality it's just a blazer and pants.  That's what I aim for in my outfits; I love looking put together with putting in minimal effort, especially for a casual day out.
Today Eve and I spent about 3 hours taking pictures so I was able to photograph a few posts so I won't be able to make excuses and slack on my blog posts!  Evelyn and I are going to go eat some Korean food now so check back in a few days for my next post or follow me on Instagram :)

first day of spring semester

January 21, 2015

Took these pictures in less than 15 minutes thanks to the lovely tripod my dad found in our garage.
Tripods are GREAT and so worth it if you're into photography, blogging, and what not.

Unfortunately winter break is officially over and today was my first day of Spring '15.  Same shit, different semester.  Today I had two 3-hour classes and both professors kept us for around two hours.  My first class was Public Relations Strategies, the professor is pretty funny but she talks tons.  She's the type to get a story from a story leading to another story.  So yes, ya girl's eyes were fluttering, struggling to stay open at some points in the lecture.  I knew walking into this class that she was going to be lovely because of ratemyprofessor.com.  That site is a blessing from heaven because having good professors are crucial since they are obviously the ones giving you your final grades.  My second class today was Marketing 101 and my professor was hilarious.  I think it's so amusing when teachers throw out curse words; it makes the classroom feel more casual and relaxed, which creates a better bond between the students and professor in my opinion.
As for my outfit, I didn't know what the hell to wear today so I just threw on one of my favorite cardigans, a loose white tee, and some leggings.  To add a little extra, threw on a necklace (even though I wore a scarf all day because it's brick in NYC) and put some color on my lips.  Simple but still looks like I put in at least a little bit of effort.  There's really nothing spectacular about this outfit but this is what my usual outfit to school looks like and I thought it'd be nice to share my first day of school outfit.
Overall, today was really boring and I really want to just lay in bed and pass out but knowing me when it's time to actually sleep I won't be able to.  My first day of classes is done, I'm over it, and I'm ready for summer break now!

first outfit post of 2015

January 16, 2015

Please excuse the crookedness of the first few photos.  Photo credits to my dad ^__^

This outfit was actually from last Sunday but I never got the chance to capture any photos because winter sucks and it gets dark at 5.  I know I had all week to blog, but I just recently landed a new internship so it's been taking up my time when there's light outside.  I totally just got out of bed, changed into this outfit, and went to take pictures so don't mind my second day bed hair.  Denim tops are essential in everyone's closet, whether you're a girl or a guy.  I, personally, have four denim shirts, two denim vests, and three denim jackets.. you can never have enough, right?  Fur vests may be a little too much for some people but it really helps to jazz up an outfit with minimal effort.  I love throwing it on to make my outfit a little more trendy and stylish, but beware, wearing a fur vest over every outfit ain't cute though sista.  I've probably brought out my nano sac de jour three times? and it's perfect!  It's small but it can hold a decent amount of items in it.
My parents go to Long Island every week, and they're getting sick of going to Roosevelt Field Mall, the area with Trader Joe's/Ulta/Container Store, and Ikea, so on Sunday they decided they wanted to go to Walt Whitman and asked me to tag along.  Walt Whitman has Saks Fifth Ave so that lured me into going. (I got my Prada from this Saks location about a year and half ago)  They renovated the exterior of the mall and it looks pretty nice.  The mall itself is quite small; it only has one level.  The first store we went to was Forever 21 and they had a whole middle section of buy one get one free.  I found a jacket I really liked (the second coat photo), originally $82 but on sale for $50.  Then my mom told me to just get another jacket so it'll be worth the BOGO.  It took me a while because it was so hard to search through the racks, but I finally found one that appealed to me, I don't remember the original price but it was on sale for $35, and then free.  So I pretty much got two coats for $25 which was great!  I've been looking for long-lined coats like these for a while and I'm glad I found some on sale.  The length of these were perfect, being short makes it difficult to find good lengths when it comes to jackets.. or clothing in general.  The second coat may look black but it's actually an olive color.  I was satisfied with that shopping trip even though these coats were my only purchases.

I know it's been a while since I've blogged but I have no photographers that can help me take my pictures.  BUT, my dad just told me we had a tripod in the garage and he helped me set it up, so hopefully I can start getting up a lot more outfit posts!

yves saint laurent nano sac de jour

January 3, 2015

I've seen this bag around tumblr in the larger sizes but never this teeny cute size.  One day scrolling through Instagram, Kendall Jenner posted a picture of her carrying this YSL nano sac de jour in a bright orange and I was attracted to the size and simplicity of the bag.  Then one of my favorite youtubers, Weylie also purchased this bag and she's been using it on the daily so I started to take more interest in it.  With Christmas coming around, my dad told me to choose what I wanted as my present so I started looking up bags that I've been wanting.  I've also been wanting the balenciaga city bag because I love how the edgy-chic look, and the way it effortlessly hangs from the arms of the carrier.  Following my dad to Manhasset when he was getting my mom's gift, we went into Hirschleifers, which is a specialty store that carries high-end brands such as Chanel, Celine, Givenchy, YSL, Balenciaga, and Tom Ford to name a few.  I absolutely love stepping into Hirschleifers because all the luxury brands are in one place and I can just roam around in awe.  I walked over to the Yves Saint Laurent section and I saw the small bag, but it was the baby sac de jour instead of the nano.  Then I walked into the Balenciaga section and there were so many sizes that I didn't wanna impulse buy because I didn't do enough research on Balenciaga bags.  I decided to wait a bit and to research a bit more since these bags are not just a few hundred dollars.
The Sunday after Christmas, my dad told me to check which Barney's had the nano and that we would go if I really wanted the bag.  We drove to Barney's flagship store located on Madison Ave. (such a beautiful avenue during the holiday season)  Walking into Barney's was like walking into heaven.. handbag heaven.  Barney used to be my favorite show as a little girl, and now Barney's NY is my favorite store.  At first, I wanted the gray nano sac de jour, but they only had the grained leather (pebbled texture) which in my opinion was heavier than the regular black leather.  After trying on the gray and black, I figured black would obviously be easier to match, which is why all my other bags are black.  I wanted to stray away from black to get some diversity in my bags but I just couldn't, I love black.  I was pretty set on getting the black leather nano sac de jour but I wanted to browse and try on other bags before officially purchasing it.  I went to try the Balenciaga again, my mom was there who is a very opinionated woman said it was really ugly :(.  Maybe I'll just settle for a Balenciaga wallet OR a card holder because I really really want a card holder now (might do a separate post of the card holders I want.)  Next section was Celine, I. love. Celine.  After getting my mini luggage I felt like I should have gotten either the micro or the nano because the mini is HUGE especially in comparison to my petite body.  But then I'll just keep it for the future when I'm older, and I still love it of course!  I tried on the nano Celine bag (which is the tiny one) and it was so so so cute, but my parents said they both liked the YSL one better.  When I'm older and making that guap I'll buy myself a nano in royal blue or some color other than black :).  I went to take a peek at the Givenchy bags but it was too chunky and structured for my liking so I told my dad I definitely wanted the nano sac de jour.
I chose this bag because of the simplicity and convenience of it.  It's a lot easier to just get a small bag to carry around when going out, especially living in the city.  Sometimes it's a hassle carrying a big bag around.  I do wish there was a clasp or a zipper, but the bag does require force in order to look inside of it.  The size is perfect for me (mini bag for mini me).
The measurements are: 8.6 x 7.0 x 4.3 inches
I'm extremely happy, thankful, and blessed.  I can't wait to use my new baby and hopefully I'll have some outfit posts for you all soon!  Hope everyone had a happy holiday and a great new years!  Happy 2015 ^__^
